The Senior Accountant is responsible for day-to-day financial support and oversight of the general ledger, month-end reconciliation process, financial reporting preparation and analysis, and ad hoc finance and compliance projects as assigned by management.
Job Requirements
3+ years of experience in public accounting or in the corporate accounting environment is required. Public company experience is preferred.
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting is required
Active CPA or minimum requirements met for CPA (with progress in sitting for the examination) is preferred
Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite
Proven leadership ability and excellent written and verbal communication skills
Prior knowledge and experience in the real estate industry is preferred, but not required
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Ability to evaluate and implement key internal control processes
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously with excellent attention to detail
Forward looking thinker, who is proactive in identifying issues and proposing solutions
Self-starter with strong work ethic, and ability to take initiative on projects
Responsibilities
Perform daily accounting activities including posting journal entries and managing the general ledger
Perform review of month end close procedures on a portfolio of properties, including journal entries, reconciliations, analysis of accounts receivable and accounts payable and other supporting schedules
Prepare and maintain process documentation to support control compliance
Assist in the preparation of financial reports for internal and external use
Develop and implement key processes with focus on automation, scalability, and efficiency
Assist with preparation of quarterly and year end audit schedules
Prepare monthly financial statements and related reports
Interpret financial transactions and resolve accounting discrepancies
Coordinate with third party vendors to obtain inputs for financial reporting and to monitor compliance with service level agreements
